  • Private Equity real estate investment:- Directly buy a property, either as sole ownership (by using entirely your money or by taking loan)  or, as partnership or, commingled.

  • Public Equity real estate investment:- it is an indirect way to buy a property, by investing in REITs or REOC. its just like buying units of mutual fund which is investing its money in real estate. (REITs and REOC are explained in detail bellow).

2. Debt Real Estate Investment:-

  • Private Debt real estate investment: Giving loan to buy a property. (best eg:- Banks, NBFC)

  • Public Debt real estate investment:- Buying Mortgage-backed-securities (MBS).it means indirectly you are refinancing the mortgage. it is also a form of lending,.
